Merchant Ship Set: 1/300th Scale Merchant Ship Models

There are six ship classes/types within the Roman Seas Merchant Ship set, and these are: the Cortiba (Roman grain ship), a small merchant ship, a small and large coastal trader, and a small and large Actuaria (oar powered merchant ships).

Ship Masts
All Roman Seas ship models come with sails, to be used if want to have your models displayed with sails, but the model files do not contain masts. Ship masts made from card stock proved too flimsy and prone to damage. However, within each ship model file is a template for the making of ship masts. For the smaller ships, we suggest round tooth picks as these make ideal masts, although will need to have their circumference reduced slightly through sanding (easy and quick to do). For the larger ships model, we suggest using rattan. Simply split the rattan stick into an appropriate width and round out by sanding. Rattan takes glue very well and is very strong.
